Adam MacLean joins Famous Folks as creative director.

Seasoned CD brings additional strategic and creative vision to agency’s Toronto office—as well as a hunger for Halifax donairs.
Following a series of new hires and account wins, Famous Folks has acquired a critical new talent that will help the growing agency unify and amplify its creative and strategic marketing services across its Halifax and Toronto offices. Adam MacLean brings with him nearly fifteen years of experience with brands such as Nike, MLS&E, Red Bull and OLG, earned at agencies in both Toronto and Halifax.
Adam will be based out of the agency’s King West office in Toronto, but will maintain a physical presence in the Halifax office as well ensuring the creative output meets the agency’s high strategic standard regardless of location. “I’m looking to help exceed our clients’ expectations and contribute to a culture of encouragement. The best work happens when people want to come to work every day, feel challenged and have the chance to grow creatively,” Adam explained.
Famous Folks CEO Jay Dingwall said he couldn’t be more excited by bringing Adam aboard. “Over the course of his career, Adam has proven himself to be more than a talented designer and creative director. He’s a strategic thinker who understands the fundamental changes that are happening in the agency landscape right now.”
Adam said he’s excited by the opportunity to build on the strong strategic reputation Famous Folks has earned. “I’m looking forward to being a part of a team that understands how the agency world is changing and that business in general is changing. There are opportunities to push a creative agency beyond the service model, and Jay and Ryan get that.”
Ryan Joseph, agency President, said he’s also looking forward to the additional unifying muscle Adam will bring to Famous Folks. “We’ve always done an incredible job of operating the two offices as a single entity, but with Adam, we now have even more leadership strength working to create a singular culture and consistent quality of work for our clients.”
Adam said he was attracted to Famous Folks by the entrepreneurial attitude and inclusive leadership qualities that Jay and Ryan bring to the organization. “They embody the type of culture- and success-building qualities I knew I was looking for as I thought about what was next for me. Throw in the similar East-Coast-country-mouse-moves-to-the-city personal backstories and the connection was immediate.”
An East Coast native, Adam said the split-time approach will also give him the chance to see old friends, and stay in touch with the refreshing lifestyle difference that Halifax offers. “And frankly, I miss donairs.”
