Wilsons Partners with Famous Folks to Spread the Warmth for Giving Tuesday
December 1st, 2015
On December 1st, Wilsons Home Heating will be raising money for charity by hugging people in downtown Halifax.
Did you notice any colourful blankets around the downtown core? As the days get colder, Wilsons Home Heating will be spreading some warmth to help those in need. The blankets were just the beginning.
As part of Giving Tuesday, a national fundraising event, for every hug they receive Wilsons will donate $10 to the IWK Foundation, Phoenix Youth, and United Way Halifax. As part of a campaign titled “Spread The Warmth,” Wilsons employees will be out and about in Scotia Square and in front of the Halifax Central Library, encouraging people to share a hug to support these charities. Their goal is to reach a 1000 hugs.
“This has been a labour of love for the team and it’s for a good cause,” says Famous Folks Creative Director, Bruce Whalen. “Wilsons has been fantastic to work with and are genuinely open to trying whatever will help the community. It’s not every day that you get to work with yarn and fleece. We hope everyone gets their hug and that the causes become the real winners.”
People that hug a Wilsons employee can also enter a Facebook contest to win prizes from Wilsons, including a free month of propane or oil heat, dinner for two with tickets to Neptune Theatre, and a $50 gas card.
