A Culture to Celebrate
Four hundred years ago, Grand Chief Henri Membertou became the first person baptized in the Dominion of Canada, an event that signified peace with the European nations — momentous for both the Mi’kmaq people and the evolution of our country. Famous Folks was therefore incredibly honoured to be selected as the agency to promote the 400th anniversary celebration. in addition to a re-enactment in Port royal, the celebration includes a national Pow-Wow in the Halifax Common. Drumming, dancing, cultural celebrations, a concert with Buffy Sainte Marie… a tremendous schedule had to be showcased, and our team faced the challenge with inspiration and enthusiasm. Working with many stakeholders, we developed overall brand position and carried it across numerous tactics: identity, TV, radio, outdoor and web. We also drove a social media campaign across Facebook and Twitter which gathered close to 5,000 fans in over 25 countries and brought 12,000 unique visitors to the web site — in less than a month. The overall marketing efforts helped attract between 80,000 and 100,000 people to the events.
